About us
Apartments run by their owners.
matcha home is two buildings in Moselle, in Hayange and Hettange-Grande, ten apartments, and a small team that looks after them every day. No agency between you and us.
Why “matcha”
Kevin, the founder, lived three years in Japan and three years in China. In Japan he discovered a way of welcoming guests he never forgot: everything is ready before the guest arrives, the little things are thought of, and nobody is kept waiting.
When he started hosting travellers in 2020, he wanted to bring back that spirit, without the folklore. The name stuck: matcha, like the Japanese green tea you take the time to prepare properly.
Designed for people working away from home
Most of our guests are crews: workers, technicians and fitters from all over Europe, here for a job site in Luxembourg or an assignment at Cattenom. People who leave early, come back tired, and need three things: a proper bed, a proper kitchen and some peace and quiet.
Every apartment is designed for exactly that: a bed for each person, a big table to eat together, bed linen provided and Wi-Fi to call the family in the evening.
The team
Kevin handles bookings and guests. On site, an independent cleaning team and a trusted tradesman look after the apartments. We answer in French, English, Japanese and Chinese; for other languages, a translator does the rest.
What matters to us
- The price you see is the price you pay: cleaning and tourist tax included, no last-minute surprises.
- The photos show our own apartments.
- When you write, a real person answers.
- We own both buildings: when something needs fixing, we fix it.
- Booking direct should always get you the best price: around 5% less than Airbnb and Booking.com.
